I’m very sorry we haven’t had much chance to do our writing challenges. However, this week I thought we could do a challenge based on the work we have been doing around debates.
Should dogs always be kept on leads in all public places?
We had a fantastic time on Wednesday at Papa Luigi’s! We walked down to the restaurant to become official Papa Luigi chefs for the morning (complete with our very own chef hats) and made our very own pizzas from scratch!
We we all had a great time and would like to thank Papa Luigi’s for being so friendly and hospitable!
Well done everyone who entered the challenge last time. It can be quite difficult to leave out the word the in your stories when you think about it!
The new challenge is to write a story about an encounter you have with this silly monkey! Where do you meet? What do you do together? Is he funny or annoying? You decide. The word banned this week is AND.
The best entries need to include relative clauses and parenthesis, which we have been working so hard on this week!
Congratulations Abbie for winning ‘THE’ Challenge from last time! I was very impressed with them all!
This week’s task is simple. Your writing can be any style; newspaper report, story extract, script, anything! As long as it is about the picture posted with this blog.
However there are some rules. You are not allowed to use the word… THE!
This is much harder than it sounds! Try to earn the Writer of the Week award by using as many amazing writing features as you can!
We are going to be creating a tourist leaflet, persuading people to come and visit the Ukraine. However, first, we need to research the country. Follow the link below and try to find as many amazing facts about Ukraine as you can!
We have had a brilliant day today. This morning, we had a visit from Dr Joanne Pledger, who talked to us about the planets in our Solar System. We then got the chance to draw a scale model.
This afternoon, we had lots of fun making balloon rockets!
Well done, everyone!
What a fantastic week we’ve had in Year 5! I’m so proud of you all for working so hard.
A big “well done” to Matthew Mooney for being our Star of the Week!
Next week, we will be busy practising multiplication in Maths, completing our non-chronological report in Big Write and, of course, getting ready for our class assembly on Friday!
Excellent 100 word challenges last week everyone! It was good to see a range of fiction and non-fiction in your blogging! I’m sure lots of you found it much trickier than you though, to write exactly 100 words!
Your new challenge is to describe Father Christmas in 50 words. Easy right? Wrong! To make it extra challenging, you cannot use the letter ‘R’! (Imagine that the R key on your keyboard is broken).
Well done to this week’s winner is McCauley. I really enjoyed reading about all of the mischievous antics your elf had gotten up to over the weekend!
Now that 2015 is coming to a close, lots of people take time to think about the year that’s passed and what they want to achieve in the year ahead. I want to know what your biggest achievement was this year, or what your biggest highlights of the year were. I also want to know 3 things you want to experience or achieve in 2016!
For example:
My highlight of 2015 was becoming a teacher at Woodfield and finding out I would have the same class in Year 5 that I had in Year 4!
